Knights Island Preserve

Knights Island Preserve is a 400-acre peninsula located in the upper Chesapeake Bay, bounded by Back Creek and the Sassafras River. It was farmed for many years before the Firestone Family converted it into a private game preserve in the 1960’s. Its mature hardwood forests and meandering meadows are alive with native wildlife and rare botanical diversity. The property is maintained by a NALT Preserve Manager helping to ensure that the 500+ species of vegetation growing there, including more than a dozen state-listed rarities, will continue to thrive.
